Priyanka Chopra turns fierce saree-clad sharpshooter Mandakini in Globetrotter; SS Rajamouli says, ‘Welcome back, Desi Girl’

After six years, Priyanka Chopra is all set to return to Indian films with SS Rajamouli’s much-anticipated Globetrotter. The actor recently shared her first look from the film and also participated in am AMA (ask me anything) session on X (formerly Twitter), where she opened up about working with Rajamouli and the film’s lead actor, Mahesh Babu.

Priyanka’s first look from the film is nothing short of iconic. She is seen wearing a yellow saree and holding a gun as she locks in on her target. Her hair is tied back in a braid, and she completes her traditional yet fierce look with kolhapuris, jumkas, and a bindi. Sharing the poster, she captioned it, “She’s more than what meets the eye… say hello to Mandakini. #GlobeTrotter.” Celebrities were quick to gush over Priyanka’s new avatar. Ranveer Singh commented on the post, writing, “Very cool.” Comedian Zakir Khan added, “Queen ❤️❤️❤️❤️.”

Meanwhile, Rajamouli also shared the poster and warmly welcomed Priyanka back to Indian cinema. He wrote, “The woman who redefined Indian Cinema on the global stage. Welcome back, Desi Girl! @priyankachopra Can’t wait for the world to witness your myriad shades of MANDAKINI. #GlobeTrotter.” Earlier, the director had unveiled Prithviraj Sukumaran’s look from the film, introducing him as Kumbha.

During the AMA session, Priyanka revealed that her daughter, who accompanied her on the sets of Globetrotter in Hyderabad, had a delightful time. She shared that Malti Marie had a fun time with Mahesh Babu’s daughter, Sitara, and also visited SS Rajamouli’s farm, where she met a calf. Priyanka wrote, “My daughter has been to set in Hyderabad and she had the best time with @urstrulyMahesh and Namrata’s beautiful daughter Sitara and went to @ssrajamouli’s farm and met a calf. Her favorite memory @ssk1122.”

It’s not just Malti who’s been bonding with India — Priyanka’s husband, singer Nick Jonas, has also been learning about Indian culture and even picked up a few Hindi words. When a fan asked, “What’s something you taught Nick to say in Hindi? P.S. I LOVE YOU!!! #AskPCJ.” Priyanka replied, “Khana, paani, pyaar, paneer but I think he picked it all up himself! @nickjonas @anushka_purohit.”

Priyanka’s last Indian film as an actor was 2019’s The Sky is Pink. She had announced that she would be a part of Farhan Akhtar’s Jee Le Zara with Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif, but there have been no concrete announcements about the film for over four years now.
