While Shah Rukh Khan is often celebrated for his heart-wrenching portrayal of Aman in Kal Ho Naa Ho, Preity Zinta’s performance as the strong yet vulnerable Naina Catherine Kapur remains equally iconic. Even two decades later, her role continues to resonate deeply with audiences. With the film recently re-released, fans once again found themselves moved by Preity’s powerful portrayal.

Taking to her official X handle during a Q&A session, the actress responded to a fan who expressed how emotional the film still feels, even after all these years. “Preity Zinta ma’am every time I watch Kal Ho Naa Ho, I cry like a kid. You absolutely nailed Naina Catherine Kapur. Learnt a lesson as well that love sometimes means letting go. When you watch Kal Ho Naa Ho after 20 years of shoot, do you cry like us?,” the fan wrote.

Preity’s candid response struck a deeply emotional chord: “Yes, I cry when I see it, and I cried when we were filming it too! My first love died in a car crash so this film always hit different. Fun Fact – Most scenes all actors cried naturally… and Aman’s death scene had everyone crying in front of the camera and behind it too!” she revealed. The actress was referring to a personal tragedy from her early life, the loss of her father, Durganand Zinta, an Indian Army officer who died in a car accident when she was just 13.

Her fans are also can’t hold their excitement as she is set to make a long-awaited return to the silver screen with Lahore 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. The film, produced under Aamir Khan’s banner, also stars Sunny Deol and marks a significant collaboration between two stalwarts of Hindi cinema. Meanwhile, Preity’s IPL team, Punjab Kings (PBKS), is enjoying a strong season with 7 wins out of 11 matches, currently holding third place on the table.
