Tushar Jalota’s cross-cultural romantic comedy Param Sundari, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, has seen a major dip at the domestic box office on its first Monday, but it has managed to cross the Rs 30 crore mark. The film is backed by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, the force behind Hindi cinema’s biggest hits in India, including Stree 2 last year and Chhaava this year.

On Monday (day 4), Param Sundari earned Rs 3.5 crore, a drastic fall from its Sunday (day 3) collection of Rs 10.25 crore. That was the only day it managed to hit double-digit collections. Nonetheless, it was still an improvement on the opening day figure of Rs 7.25 crore. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the current box office collection of Param Sundari in India stands at Rs 30.25 crore. This has allowed the film to score higher than movies like Shazia Iqbal’s romantic drama Dhadak 2 (Rs 24.22 crore) and Pulkit’s action drama Maalik (Rs 26.36 crore). Its next target is Rosshan Andrrews’ cop drama Deva (Rs 33.97 crore).

Param Sundari is trailing Maddock’s last romantic film, Karan Sharma’s Bhool Chuk Maaf, starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, which collected Rs 33.5 crore in its first four days. It went on to have a business of over Rs 75 crore at the domestic box office.

However, it’s much higher than Sidharth’s last theatrical release, the 2023 action thriller Yodha, which garnered only Rs 19 crore in its first four days. The film is trailing the dubbed Hindi version of Janhvi’s last release — Koratala Siva’s action thriller Devara: Part 1 — which collected Rs 31 crore in the first four days at the domestic box office.

Param Sundari enjoyed a wide release sans competition, except from holdover releases like Ayan Mukerji’s spy thriller War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, and the dubbed Hindi version of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s crime thriller Coolie, starring Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, and Shruti Haasan. It’ll enjoy a free run for four more days before new entrants compete in the market — A Harsha’s action thriller Baaghi 4, starring Tiger Shroff and Sanjay Dutt, and Vivek Agnihotri’s political drama The Bengal Files, starring Mithun Chakraborty.
