Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan today stressed on the need to do away with archaic British laws governing the country. Speaking at a function organised by Mumbai police to create better awareness of traffic rules, the legendary actor said, “The rules and laws were made by British in our country when India was a police state. Today, we are independent and we need to change the archaic British laws that we follow.”

Big B also made a fervent plea to citizens of the country to follow traffic rules with utmost sincerity. Citing an example of how he takes pain to educate traffic-breakers, Amitabh Bachchan said, ” When I see someone breaking a traffic signal or driving through no entry, I make it a point to stop the vehicle and tell the driver gently and in a nice way to not break the traffic. Although whenever I do this, I do end up getting requests for autographs and selfies, it’s okay. I am ready to give take 1000 autographs if it will help citizens follow traffic rules.”

Urging youngsters of the country to wear helmets while driving Amitabh Bachchan said, “I often see youngsters not wearing helmets. It happens when you are young and enthusiastic but I would request all of them to wear helmets while riding. I have seen people using mobiles while driving, ear phones plugged into ears while riding. All these things will cause accidents.”

The superstar also reiterated his commitment in helping Mumbai police for creating traffic awareness.
“Whenever I go to a foreign nation, I get to know how progressive that nation is by looking at the traffic system in place. If it is nice, I start loving and respecting that nation. I think our nation should give out the same feeling to every foreign guest who visits India. If I can be the face of Gujarat tourism, I can definitely spread word about traffic awareness in Mumbai. If my face and voice are of any benefit to the Mumbai police, I will be at their service. I would also request them to make ads or Tv serials about traffic awareness so that it can reach a wider audience.”
