Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who has been promoting his film Jogira Sara Rara, recently shared in an interview that after watching his performance in New York, Irrfan Khan was in tears. Nawaz had a small but significant part in Kabir Khan’s film New York and had to shoot one of the most important scenes of the movie on the day he reached New York.

The actor told Mashable India, “It was shot on the same day that I reached and I was a little jetlagged but Kabir said, ‘Let’s do it today as there were some logistical issues.'” Nawaz recalled that he was handed over a 5-page scene but he told Kabir that he might not be able to memorise all the dialogues so they had to find another way to shoot the scene. Soon, Nawaz came up with a plan

“I said, ‘Let’s do one thing. Let me visualise everything he is saying and let me say it in my own words.’ Kabir is a wonderful director so he placed 2-3 cameras around me so I don’t have to do it over and over again,” Nawazuddin Siddiqui recalled. As he started enacting the scene, Nawaz started feeling like he was the one who was experiencing his character’s emotional journey and after the scene was over, Kabir immediately called Irrfan Khan on the set and asked him to watch the scene. “When Kabir saw the whole thing, he immediately called Irrfan to come over and see. He came and saw and he was almost like… (in tears),” Nawazuddin said.
