After ‘denying’ him role in Shaktimaan, Mukesh Khanna praises Ranveer Singh’s performance in Dhurandhar: ‘He is a good actor’

Ranveer Singh’s latest film Dhurandhar has been earning praise from both industry insiders and audiences alike. Adding to the film’s growing acclaim, veteran actor Mukesh Khanna, best known for portraying Shaktimaan, described the Aditya Dhar directorial as “perfect”. He also lauded the performances of Ranveer and Akshaye Khanna in the spy actioner.

Sharing his views on Dhurandhar in a YouTube video, Mukesh said, “There are many brilliant adjectives that can be attributed to the film Dhurandhar. It’s a perfect film, a commercial film, and one that will hit the masses. Every department did their best, whether it was acting, directing, action, direction, or writing. Everyone has given their best, so that you can call the film Dhurandhar in every way.”

Later, Mukesh Khanna went on to praise Ranveer Singh, and added, “I would like to praise this film’s hero, Dhurandhar, Ranveer Singh. You will say, ‘You didn’t let him play Shaktimaan’. I may have denied him the role of Shaktimaan, but he is a good actor, I always say this. He has great energy in this film, and his eyes are brooding because this man has come from India and has been planted in Pakistan. How he enters this world and become a gang member.”

Mukesh also addressed how Akshaye Khanna briefly overshadowed Ranveer Singh in the film, explaining that the latter’s character arc was designed to unfold gradually. “The role of Dhurandhar that he was given had to see him grow little by little. I’m sure in the sequel, they will highlight his entire story.” He even praised Akshaye’s performance in the film and said, “You all know that the one actor who is being praised for his performance is Akshaye Khanna. He stars in very few films. He used to be a hero some time back. Some films worked while others didn’t, but he left his mark in each of them. In this film, he didn’t just leave his mark; he ate all the competition. There are very few films where the villain is praised more than the hero.”

Dhurandhar also stars Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, R Madhavan, and Sara Arjun in important roles. As per trade tracker Sacnilk, Dhurandhar has so far collected Rs 516.50 crore in India and Rs 739.5 crore worldwide.
