The makers of the highly anticipated musical drama Mufasa: The Lion King have unveiled the film’s second trailer, just weeks ahead of its release. The one-minute-and-56-second clip has left audiences captivated with its breathtaking visuals and gripping storyline. Directed by Barry Jenkins, the excitement among Indian fans is soaring, especially since the makers have brought in some of the biggest names to voice the iconic characters of Mufasa and Simba.

In the Hindi-dubbed version, Shah Rukh Khan teams up with his sons—Aryan Khan and AbRam—to lend their voices to Mufasa, Simba, and young Mufasa, respectively. Following the blockbuster success of 2019’s live-action The Lion King, Mufasa: The Lion King serves as both a prequel and a sequel. The story unfolds as Rafiki narrates the tale of two lions, Mufasa and Taka to Kiara, who is the granddaughter of Mufasa and the daughter of Simba and Nala.

The new trailer provides a glimpse into the beginning of the friendship between an orphaned Mufasa and Taka, a lion cub destined to inherit the throne. Initially forbidden by Taka’s father, the reigning king, their bond grows over time as they face challenges together, forming a lifelong brotherly relationship. The trailer highlights their journey, showcasing how they overcome obstacles and adversaries side by side.

Apart from Shah Rukh, Aryan, and AbRam, the Telugu-dubbed version features Mahesh Babu as the voice of Mufasa, creating significant buzz and building massive anticipation among fans. Additionally, Tamil actor Arjun Das has been confirmed as the voice of Mufasa in the Tamil version.

Shah Rukh Khan previously expressed his enthusiasm for the project, particularly the opportunity to collaborate with his sons. “The film depicts Mufasa’s life from childhood to his rise as an incredible king, and revisiting this character has been exceptional. It’s a special collaboration for me with Disney, particularly because my sons, Aryan and AbRam, are part of this journey and sharing this experience with them is truly meaningful,” he had said.

Mufasa: The Lion King is set to release in India on December 20 in Hindi, English, Tamil, and Telugu.
