Priyanka Chopra X Balmain at Met Gala 2025 

The Citadel actor collaborated with Olivier Rousteing of the French luxury house to create the bespoke couture for the gala. For jewellery, she opted for BVLGARI, the Italian luxury brand for whom she also serves as global brand ambassador, alongside Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, and others. This year, the dress code of the Met Gala is “Tailored for You,” for the exhibition theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” (to roll out in October), honouring Black identity and how their style has shaped today’s fashion. According to Vogue, it’s a theme that “explores the importance of clothing and style to the formation of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora.”The theme celebrates the rise of Afro-Americans who adopted the White man’s tailoring to demand inclusion and parity, breaking and reimagining age-old stereotypes. Priyanka was the first Indian to walk the prestigious Met carpet nine years ago.

Earlier, she also attended the pre-gala soirée wearing Balmain. A black, floor-length, figure-hugging gown that blended old Hollywood glam with a modern silhouette and her hair let loose. Joining her were Lupita Nyong’o in a beautifully stripped black-and-white dress and Hunter Schafer decked in a silver mini ensemble.

2017: Priyanka graced the red carpet of the Met Gala, hosted by Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, in Ralph Lauren, creating a historic moment for India. The theme that year was Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between, and Chopra turned heads in a dramatic trench coat look, marking her own pop culture moment, also sparking a meme frenzy on the internet. She walked the carpet with her then-boyfriend, Nick Jonas.

2018: Priyanka returned to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, choosing Ralph Lauren for the second time—this time in a Madonna-inspired red velvet gown that honoured the theme Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.

2019: By now a Met Gala regular, Priyanka’s look this year took things up several notches. Dressed in Christian Dior for the theme Celebrating Camp: Notes on Fashion, she channelled a Mad Hatter-inspired vibe straight out of Alice in Wonderland, whimsical hair, a feathered cape, and a bold interpretation of the theme that stirred quite the frenzy.

2023: After skipping the event for three years, she made a grand return with her husband Nick Jonas, walking in Maison Valentino. The theme for the year was Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, honouring the legendary designer.
