It was a rather tumultuous start to the New Year for Saif Ali Khan and his family, as they were attacked in his Bandra residence. This altercation lead to Saif Ali Khan being hospitalised for multiple stab wounds, and it is just now that he has started to attend public events, notably the wedding of Kareena Kapoor Khan‘s cousin, Aadar Jain. However, the impact of the attack and its aftermath continues to remain a deep wound in the psyche of many, including Saif’s brother-in-law, actor-filmmaker Kunal Kemmu.
“It’s very weird how fear works. I had to break this to her. We were getting our daughter ready to go to school and you just had this information and nothing else. So, am I supposed to send my daughter to school right now or not? All of those things were kind of playing on my mind,” said Kunal, adding, “So we did send her to school, and then I said we need to go there, and that’s when slowly we started to find out what had kind of transpired.”
Not wanting to add any other layers to the incident, Kunal categorically said that Saif has already explained what happened. “Everything has been accounted for and answered when it comes to that,” said the actor.
Saif, who sustained stab wounds in various parts of his body, including his spine, underwent a couple of surgeries at the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, and returned home after a five-day stint at the hospital. In an interaction with The Times of India, Saif recalled that he and Kareena were asleep in their room when, around 2 a.m., a house help rushed in, informing them that an intruder had entered Jeh’s room and was demanding money. Saif described how the masked intruder was armed with two knives. “I saw this guy holding (what I thought were) two sticks over Jeh’s bed – it was actually a hexa blade,” Saif shared. He jumped to confront the attacker, and was stabbed in the ensuing scuffle.
