Kirti Kulhari would ask herself why she is doing Himesh Reshammiya’s Badass Ravikumar: ‘Earlier I would judge these films’
Kirti Kulhari recently shared why she chose to take up Badass Ravikumar and what was Himesh Rehsammiya's condition for her while signing the film.

Actress Kirti Kulhari who is known to play some very layered and nuanced characters in films and on web shows, left everyone surprised with her appearance in Himesh Reshammiya’s film Badass Ravikumar. While the film has been panned for its cringe quotient, recently Kirti opened up on why she chose to do the film. The actress also revealed how Himesh Reshammiya did not encourage any input from her and rather told her to do what he had in mind. During a conversation with News 18, Kirti Kulhari opened up about her views on both Badass Ravikumar and working with Himesh Reshammiya.
Revealing that she was also shocked when approached for the film, Kirti said, “I remember there were a few dialogues and I wanted to improve them, add something to them, remove something or say them differently, and he told me no. It was almost like take it or leave it but this is what it is. He made it clear that if I say yes to the film, I’ll have to do things his way or not do the film at all. That was the moment that I knew I’ll do the film.”

She further added, “He was like, ‘Don’t mess with what we have. This is what it is.’ I wasn’t offended. I was happy that here’s somebody who knows what he’s doing.” Explaining how she wanted to bring shock value to her audience with this film, Kirti had her apprehensions. “Of course, I wondered what the film would do for my career and if my audience would like it. But I wanted to challenge the idea of who I am and how I look at myself as an actor. I want to bring a shock value with the things I do and that’s just the trip I’m on. I used to keep cracking up during the shoot. There would be moments where I would go, ‘Why am I doing this? Do I belong here?’ But after a point, I was like a little child in awe of everything that was happening on that set. I was at a certain level and the world of Badass Ravi Kumar was up there. Earlier, I used to look down upon the world of commercial, mainstream Bollywood. I would totally judge these films because they’re so different from how I see cinema.”
Kirti also shared that after doing Badass Ravikumar her perception towards commercial cinema has changed. She also revealed that now, she doesn’t take herself so seriously. In the past, Kirti has worked in films like Pink, Mission Mangal, Uri: The Surgical Strike. On the OTT front, Kirti has starred in projects like Four More Shots Please, Criminal Justice, Human, etc.
