Khel Khel Mein box office collection day 6: Even after six days of release, the Akshay Kumar-starrer Khel Khel Mein is yet to reach the Rs 20 crore mark, a figure that the actor’s films would often achieve in a day or two. According to early estimates by industry tracker, Sacnilk, the comedy film earned Rs 1.1 crore on its first Tuesday, taking its six-day total to Rs 17.15 crore.

Directed by Mudassar Aziz, Khel Khel Mein witnessed a steep drop in footfalls with an overall occupancy of just Rs 18.43% on Tuesday. The film had 288 shows in National Capital Region (NCR), followed by 212 shows in Mumbai and 189 shows in Ahmedabad. Other regions such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune and Chennai had shows between 14 to 75. Despite more number of shows in Mumbai and NCR, Khel Khel Mein witnessed an occupancy of just 24.75% and 20.75%, respectively. On its first day, Khel Khel Mein had over 350 shows in Mumbai and over 420 shows in Delhi.

Khel Khel Mein marks Akshay’s third release of the year; all three have also been box office flops. The actor’s previous releases, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Sarfira, tanked at the box office. While Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’s lifetime collection stands at Rs 65.15 crore, according to Sacnilk, Sarfira’s worldwide collection is just Rs 33.91 crore. The films were reportedly made on a budget of Rs 350 crore and Rs 80-100 crore, respectively. Khel Khel Mein is speculated to have been made on a budget of Rs 100 crore.

Meanwhile, other Independence Day releases such as Vedaa starring John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh, earned Rs 60 lakh on Tuesday, taking its total to Rs 16.1 crore. Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2, on the other hand, earned Rs 25 crore on its first Tuesday, standing at Rs 254.55 crore. Akshay Kumar has a cameo in Dinesh Vijan’s horror-comedy.

Khel Khel Mein, also stars Vaani Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu, Aditya Seal, Fardeen Khan, and Ammy Virk in the lead roles.
