On Sunday morning, the Mumbai police revealed that preliminary evidence indicated the attacker is a Bangladeshi national without valid Indian identity documents. The accused, a 30-year-old, had allegedly adopted the name Vijay Das after entering India to conceal his identity. He was presented at the Bandra Court on Sunday and has been remanded to police custody for five days.

The attack on Saif Ali Khan occurred during the early hours of Thursday, during what police have described as a failed robbery attempt. Saif was stabbed six times, sustaining multiple injuries, including two deep wounds on his back—one alarmingly close to his spine—and a minor cut on his neck. The knife caused significant damage, including a thoracic spine injury that led to a spinal fluid leak.

In the aftermath of the attack, Kareena Kapoor Khan shared a statement urging the media and fans to respect their privacy. “It has been an incredibly challenging day for our family, and we are still trying to process the events that have unfolded. As we navigate this difficult time, I respectfully and humbly request that the media and paparazzi refrain from the relentless speculation and coverage,” Kareena wrote in a note posted on Instagram.

She added, “While we appreciate the concern and support, the constant scrutiny and attention are not only overwhelming but also pose a significant risk to our safety. I kindly request that you respect our boundaries and give us the space we need to heal and cope as a family.”
