(Image: Kangana Ranaut/Instagram) Ahead of the release of her highly-anticipated action drama Tejas, Kangana Ranaut visited the Statue of Unity near Kevadia in Gujarat on Tuesday to pay homage to India’s first deputy prime minister and home minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
She shared a picture of herself gazing up at the statue along with a lengthy post heaping praise on Patel while also taking a veiled attack on India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
“Visiting the Statue of Unity was deeply enthralling experience. The first chosen Prime Minister of Bharat Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who wasn’t allowed to take his well-deserved chair because he wasn’t very good in English, even though he held the nation in his arms like Shiv held disintegrated body of Sati. He is the reason behind the integrity of Bharat as we know it today,” she noted.
“Such a well-deserved ode to this unsung national hero evoked the spirit of pride and nationalism in me and my entire team of upcoming film Tejas,” Kangana added.

She also posted a video on her Instagram story, featuring the statue with the instrumental version of Vande Mataram playing in the background. “Goosebumps moment when the statue got revealed to me in the car this BGM (Vande Mataram Instrumental) started playing in my head. Largest statue in the world its height amounts to almost 70 storied building,” she noted.
The statue stands on the Sadhu island on the Narmada, 3.2 km downstream of Sardar Sarovar Dam. It is 182-m (597 ft) tall, about the height of a 40-storey building; rises 237.35 m above sea level. The Rs 2,989 crore project took 42 months, and round-the-clock work by 3,400 labourers and 250 engineers to complete.
Helmed by Sarvesh Mevara, Tejas tells the story of a fictional Indian Air Force pilot. Bankrolled by Ronnie Screwvala, the film also stars Anshul Chauhan, Varun Mitra, Ashish Vidyarthi and Vishak Nair in key roles. Tejas will hit the screens on October 27.
