Kalki Koechlin struggled to get a house on rent after divorce from Anurag Kashyap: ‘You want to take selfies with me, but…’

Actor Kalki Koechlin revealed that no one was willing to give her a house on rent in Mumbai, after her divorce from director Anurag Kashyap.

Actor Kalki Koechlin, who was married to filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, struggled to find a house on rent in Mumbai after their divorce in 2015. In a recent conversation on the After Hours with All About Eve YouTube channel, Kalki opened up about her separation from ex-husband Anurag Kashyap. She said that when she moved out, she had already appeared in blockbusters such as Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

However, despite being a popular name in the industry, Kalki faced a lot of issues to get a house on rent in Mumbai, mainly because she was a single woman. At that moment, she felt, “I am famous. You want to take selfies with me, but you don’t want to give me a house.”

Around two months ago, Anurag revealed that the house he currently lives in was actually found by Kalki. While giving a tour of the house, he told Pinkvilla, “This was the house we moved into when I got married. Kalki had found this house. Shashanka Ghosh, the director, used to own this house. So, we bought it from him. Shashanka Ghosh hosted a lot of people in this house.”

On the work front, Kalki Koechlin was last seen in the critically acclaimed film Goldfish. The story is about a mother’s struggle with dementia and her relationship with her daughter. She will next be seen in Her Story and Nesippaya. On the other hand, Anurag Kashyap is currently shooting second part of his film, earlier titled Nishanchi, in Lucknow these days. Kalki is married to Guy Hershberg, with whom she has one daughter.
