Kalki 2898 AD box office collection Day 2: Prabhas-starrer inches away from earning Rs 300 crore, surpasses KGF 2’s collection

Kalki 2898 AD box office collection Day 2: After the second day, the film has recorded a dip of around 43 percent in its nett collections.

The “pan-Indian” cast, the passable CGI and the action sequences were held together not by the vision of a director, or even the performances of the actors but by the fact that the Mahabharata has near universal resonance.

Kalki 2898 AD, which opened at the worldwide box office with Rs 191.5 crore on Thursday, witnessed a major dip on its second day, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. Kalki 2898 AD earned Rs 95.3 crore nett in India on its first day but on the second day, the film’s collection dropped by over 43 percent as the film collected Rs 54 crore.

The producers of the film tweeted on Saturday that Kalki 2898 AD made Rs 298.5 crore globally in two days.

The major dip was seen in its Telugu version. While the film earned Rs 65.8 crore for its Telugu version on first day, the Nag Ashwin directorial collected Rs 25.65 crore on second day. The film saw an occupancy of 65.02 percent in Telugu on Friday. The Hindi language collection stayed the same with Rs 22.5 crore on both days.

The film released in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam. In its Tamil version, the film which opened to Rs 4.5 crore, earned Rs 3.5 crore on its second day. Meanwhile in Kannada, the film earned Rs 30 lakh on day 1 and Rs 35 lakh on day 2. In Malayalam, the film earned a total of Rs 4.4 crore in two days with Rs 2.2 crore on day 1 and Rs 2 crore on day 2, respectively. Kalki 2898 AD’s total two-day collection stands at Rs 149.3 crore nett in India.

On opening day, Kalki 2898 AD surpassed KGF 2’s worldwide collection of opening day numbers and became the third biggest opener after RRR and Baahubali 2. After the second day, Baahubali 2 had made Rs 382 crore worldwide and RRR had managed to bring in Rs 350 crore. Yash-starrer KGF Chapter 2 had collected Rs 286 crore worldwide. Kalki 2898 AD has now broken KGF 2’s record.

With a major dip in the film’s collection, it needs to be seen if the Rs 500 crore prediction for the weekend holds true for the film. Kalki 2898 AD also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani among others. The film also has cameos by SS Rajamouli, Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur and Vijay Deverakonda.
