Kajol accepts success affected equation with sister Tanishaa Mukerji: ‘It did happen at some point’
Tanishaa Mukerji, who is also in the films, is often compared to her sister Kajol's body of work, which is extremely successful.

Kajol is one of the biggest female stars of Bollywood. With films like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, she has made her mark globally. On the other hand, her younger sister, Tanishaa Mukerji couldn’t leave a similar mark. In a recent interview, the DDLJ actress talked about her equation with her sister with all the comparisons as well as her daughter, who always makes excuses to not watch her films.
In a recent interview with News18 Showsha, Kajol, who is gearing up for the release of Do Patti, admitted that constant comparisons between her and Tanisha did have an impact on their bonding. “I would say that yes, it did happen at some point, definitely. But we sorted it out. It was momentary. It wasn’t something that worked too much against us. Tanishaa is in the movies and is doing films. So, that was there but it’s not there anymore.”
Previously, talking about the comparisons, Tanishaa Mukerji told indianexpress.com, “These things don’t bother me. I can’t look at my sister and me and compare. I don’t even compare myself to other actors, why will I compare myself to my sister? Every actor and star has their own journey, that’s what I believe.”
She added, “And yes, my career was not as good as my sister, but she started when she was 16. I got so much privilege because she was in the industry. I thank her career for giving me whatever I needed. At the end of the day, I had a very comfortable career. I didn’t have to work. So from that aspect, I never compare. I think the world loves to keep comparing, I don’t live in that space.”
In the same interview, Kajol spoke about her kids Nysa and Yug, and said her kids often refuse to watch her films. She said, “It’s because when my character cries, they feel like their mumma is crying for real. Whatever my character does, they think I’m doing it in real life. They can’t separate the two. Watching my performances really affects them.”
Kajol’s Do Patti, also starring Kriti Sanon is all set to premiere on Netflix from October 25.
