The privileges and challenges faced by star kids have frequently been a topic of discussion. Aamir Khan’s son, actor Junaid Khan, believes that if he weren’t the Bollywood icon’s son, he might not have secured a role in his acclaimed historical drama film Maharaj, which eventually provided him a career break.
While participating as a special guest on NDTV Yuva, Junaid Khan opened up about his days of struggle. When asked about the several rejections he faced before landing his first break, Junaid shared, “I think, as actors, we are often testing for lots of things. Kabhi Kabhi kuch part aapko milte hain kuch nhi milte. It is true that Maharaj ke pehle maine kuch auditions diye the. Wo nahi hue uss waqt (At times you get some roles and you miss some. Yes, I did give auditions before Maharaj too. But they didn’t happen).”
When asked if he auditioned for Laal Singh Chaddha, Junaid responded, “Yes, papa has already shared about it so I can say yes.” He added that although Aamir Khan really liked his audition, it ultimately didn’t work out because “the film was budgeted at a place jahan aap ek naye actor ke saath woh film nahi banaoge. Isliye mujhe nhi muka mila woh film karne ka (The film was budgeted at a level where you wouldn’t cast a new actor as the lead. So, I wasn’t selected for that film).”
Junaid Khan also mentioned that if he weren’t Aamir Khan’s son, he likely wouldn’t have landed the role in Maharaj. When asked why he is absent from social media, he said, “I don’t know. It was never something that really excited me. In 2014, after my graduation, I was on Facebook but it never moved ahead from there.”
Maharaj, directed by Sidharth P Malhotra and produced by Yash Raj Films (YRF) Entertainment, also features Jaideep Ahlawat and Shalini Pandey, with a special appearance by Sharvari.
Junaid Khan will next team up with Khushi Kapoor for a film directed by Advait Chandan, who previously helmed Aamir Khan’s Secret Superstar and Laal Singh Chaddha. Earlier, Junaid had shared insights about this new project, hinting that it is backed by a prominent production house.
