Jaya Bachchan on offensive Madhuri Dixit-Aishwarya Rai comparison in The Big Bang Theory: ‘Badi gandi zubaan hai’

After political analyst Mithun Vijay Kumar sent a legal notice to streaming platform Netflix over an episode of The Big Bang Theory that he claims uses a “derogatory term” for actor Madhuri Dixit, actor and MP Jaya Bachchan has shared her opinion on the matter. In the episode, actor Kunal Nayyar is seen comparing Madhuri with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The episode was first telecast in 2008.

Talking to The Times of India, Jaya Bachchan asked if Kunal Nayyar is “insane”. And said that he has a “badi gandi zubaan hai (he is foul-mouthed). She also went on to say that the actor needs “to be sent to mental asylum,” and his family should be asked what they think of his comment.

The episode that is caught in controversy features Jim Parsons who plays Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory and Nayyar. While comparing Aishwarya Rai Bachchan with Madhuri Dixit, Parsons calls Aishwarya “a poor man’s Madhuri Dixit”. To which, Nayyar’s Raj Koothrappali responds saying, “Aishwarya Rai is a goddess, by comparison, Madhuri Dixit is a leprous prostitute.”

In the legal notice sent by Mithun Vijay Kumar, he has asked the streaming giant to remove the first episode of season two. Not only Jaya, but actress Diya Mirza and actor-turned-politician Urmila Matondkar also expressed their disgust on the comments. Dia Mirza said, “It is disrespectful and distasteful,” whereas Urmila told the publication that while she is unaware of the episode, so she wouldn’t make any comments, and said, “But if it is true, it is beyond outrageous. It shows their extremely cheap mentality,” and said that this kind of comedy is not humorous.
