Jaya Bachchan hits the paparazzi with a jab as they click her as she awaits her car: ‘Why don’t you come along’
Jaya Bachchan along with her daughter Shweta Bachchan-Nanda were leaving a prayer meet when she decided to give a piece of her mind to the media photographers.

Actor Jaya Bachchan, who recently celebrated her 52nd wedding anniversary with Amitabh Bachchan, finds herself locking horns with the media on several occasions, and most of it is with photographers who try to catch a glimpse of the stalwart at events and gatherings. In another episode of the same nature, the veteran actor felt that the paparazzi around were crowding her, and she decided to let them know. After saying her piece, the actor walked away visibly irritated with the whole thing and got inside her car as soon as possible.
The interaction occurred while Jaya was coming out of a prayer meet with her daughter, Shweta Bachchan-Nanda, and the path to their car was completely filled by fans and photographers. While Shweta kept walking ahead, Jaya decided to pull a page from Saif Ali Khan’s notebook and said, “Chaliye aap log bhi saath mein (Why don’t you guys come along?). The people in the crowd became a little awkward with the comment and started backing up from their positions, while a few uncomfortable smiles were exchanged. While this is similar to Saif Ali Khan’s reply to the paps, this one seemed more serious.
The actor mumbled a few other words as she walked towards her daughter, and both of them got in the car. The mother-daughter duo was there for a prayer meet organised to honour filmmaker Rono Mukherjee, who passed away a couple of days prior. Rono was Deb Mukherjee’s brother and also Rani Mukherjee, Ayan Mukherjee and Kajol’s uncle. Ayan’s father, Deb, also passed away earlier this year due to a prolonged illness.
Jaya has been called out on several occasions for her reaction to the paparazzi, due to the frequency of such episodes. An entire controversy erupted when actor Moushumi Chatterjee posed in front of the cameras and said, “Don’t call me Jaya Bachchan; I am a better person.” Even though she later admitted herself that sometimes the photographers can get on someone’s nerves, she still maintained that she, in fact, is a ‘better person’.
