While Jawan breaks records at the box office, the song “Chaleya” is setting new benchmarks on music charts. Earlier this week, the romantic number broke the record for the most streams in a day for a song on Spotify India. On September 11, “Chaleya” was streamed over 2 million times on the music platform, ranking number one across the country.
According to Kworb.net, the number increased to 2.3 million a day later, and 2.4 million the day after that. The daily global chart is led by Doja Cat’s “Paint the Town Red” with 7.4 million streams, with “Chaleya” claiming the 27th spot. Jungkook’s “Seven” took the number two spot, followed by Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire.” The most popular Indian songs on the platform remain “Maan Meri Jaan,” by King (328 million streams), followed “Raataan Lambiyan” from the film Shershaah, with 311 million streams, and AP Dhillon’s “Excuses,” with 302 million streams.
“Chaleya” is performed by Anirudh Ravichander, along with Arijit Singh and Shilpa Rao. Music for Jawan has been composed by Anirudh. Incidentally, another track featuring vocals by Arijit took the second spot on the Spotify India list: “Heeriye,” by Jasleen Royal. AP Dhillon’s “With You” came in at number three. On YouTube, “Chaleya” has been streamed over 75 million times. It appears to be the film’s most popular song, ahead of “Zinda Banda,” which currently has 71 million views on YouTube, and Not Ramaiya Vastavaiya, which has 46 million views.
Jawan has made Rs 328 crore in India in seven days of release, and is expected pass the Rs 700 crore worldwide gross figure today. It’s now tailing the lifetime hauls posted by Shah Rukh’s own blockbuster Pathaan earlier this year. Pathaan made Rs 543 crore in India and Rs 1,050 crore globally.
