Jawan star Shah Rukh Khan set to become the only Indian actor to have two Rs 1,000-crore grossers in one year
As Jawan gears up to cross the Rs 1,000-crore mark globally, let's check out the various box office records that Atlee's Shah Rukh Khan-starrer would have broken once it enters the elite club.

Atlee Kumar’s Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan is proving to be an unstoppable force at the box office. Within just 11 days of its release, the actioner has already crossed the Rs 800-crore mark worldwide, with an astonishing domestic gross of over Rs 530 crore, underscoring its potential to become one of the biggest successes in the history of Indian cinema.
Meanwhile, the tremendous success of Jawan once again highlights why Shah Rukh Khan is rightfully known as the Baadshah of Bollywood. The triumph of Jawan comes months after SRK scripted history with the blockbuster Pathaan, helmed by Siddharth Anand.
Many, including SRK himself, were initially doubtful about Pathaan since it marked his return as the lead after a five-year hiatus. However, the film ultimately achieved a global box office collection of Rs 1,055 crore, with an impressive India gross of Rs 657.5 crore, making it the second highest-grossing Hindi film of all time.
Now, as Jawan gears up to cross the Rs 1,000-crore mark globally, the Atlee directorial has firmly established itself as a box-office marvel. As the film continues to surge forward with great momentum, let’s check out the various box office records that the SRK-starrer would have broken once it enters the Rs 1,000-crore club.
Fastest movie to enter Rs 1,000-crore club
Though only two films have recorded a worldwide gross of over Rs 1,000 crore so far, Nitesh Tiwari’s Dangal (2016) and Pathaan (2023), it took both films substantial time to hit the milestone. While Pathaan entered the Rs 1,000-crore club on its 27th day of theatrical release, it took Dangal months to cross the mark and happened only after it was released in China. However, going by the current trend, Jawan is likely to cross the milestone by the end of its third week of theatrical run.
Movie with the highest India gross
While Dangal remains the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time, after the Aamir Khan movie ended its global theatrical run after garnering Rs 2,070.30 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film’s India gross was three times lower than its overseas collection. A major chunk of the movie’s earnings came from China, while its India gross was Rs 535 crore.
Garnering Rs 657.5 crore in the domestic market, Pathaan’s India gross is the highest in the film industry’s history. While Anil Sharma’s Gadar 2 stands second with Rs 610.4 crore, as it continues its box-office run in a very subdued manner, Jawan’s India gross has already reached Rs 530 crore.
SRK: the only Bollywood actor to have two Rs 1,000-cr grossers
Not only that Jawan entering the Rs 1,000-crore club will make Shah Rukh the only Indian artiste to have two Rs 1,000-crore grossers in a single year, but it will also make SRK the only Bollywood actor to have two Rs 1,000-crore grossers.
Second-highest-grossing Indian film of 2023
Jawan is currently the second-highest-grossing Indian film of 2023 and the seventh-highest-grossing Indian movie of all time. The film is also the fastest movie to cross Rs 400 crore Hindi nett. It is also the fastest to enter Rs 300 crore.
Highest single-day earner of all time
On its first Sunday, Atlee’s Jawan broke the record for the biggest single-day collection by an Indian film, as it earned Rs 80.10 crore. Soon after its worldwide premiere, Jawan received an unprecedented response from movie buffs as it crossed the Rs 200-crore mark at the box office within three days of its release, a feat not achieved by any Bollywood film yet. Pathaan reached the milestone in four days.
Biggest ever first-week total for a Hindi film
Breaking his own box office record of biggest ever first week total for a Hindi film, SRK’s Jawan minted Rs 369.43 crore within seven days of its release. The record was earlier held by Khan’s previous film, Pathaan, which earned Rs 364.15 crore during its first-week run in theatres.
Also starring Nayanthara, Vijay Sethuptahi, Sanya Malhotra and Sunil Grover among others, Jawan was released to acclaim on September 7. The film also featured Deepika Padukone in a special appearance. Shah Rukh will be next seen in Dunki, scheduled for a Christmas release.
