Shah Rukh Khan-led actioner Jawan is entering its third week of release, and is still going strong at the box office, although the film’s collections have started to witness an expected dip. On its 15th day in theatres (Thursday), Jawan earned Rs 8.85 crore, bringing its total collection to Rs 526.73 crore, making it the second-highest grosser of the year after Pathaan (Rs543.05 crore). Jawan claimed the second place on the all-time list from Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2, which earned Rs 521.15 crore in 41 days.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Jawan had an occupancy of 14.94% in the Hindi market on Thursday. The occupancy in the Telugu-speaking states was slightly better at 15.59%. In the Tamil market, the film witnessed an occupancy of 14.94%.

As per Red Chillies Entertainment, the film has collected Rs 937.61 crore worldwide gross at the box office so far.

Jawan is doing better than Pathaan

Jawan is not only breaking records but is doing so in record time. It is the fastest entrant in the Rs 100 cr, 200 crore, 300 crore, 400 crore and 500 crore clubs. By the end of its second week, Pathaan had earned Rs 458.9 crore, which is Rs 67.83 crore less than what Jawan has made in the same time.

Now, Jawan is expected to become the biggest Hindi film the domestic market by the end of its third weekend, as it is just Rs 16.32 crore short of Pathaan’s lifetime collection. Worldwide, the film has amassed Rs 907.54 crore as per the production company, Red Chillies Entertainment.

Jawan’s success has brought a wave of happiness to the Indian film industry. Films like Gadar 2, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, Satyaprem Ki Katha and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani also did good business, bringing people back to the cinema halls. Looking at the success of the recent releases, Salman Khan believes that the new normal for movie business in the North is Rs 500 crore. “I feel this Rs 100 crore mark is going to be the rock bottom now. Everything is going to be Rs 400-500-600 crore plus,” he said at an recent event in Mumbai.
