Rajkummar Rao recently opened up about a tradition he inherited from his late mother, Kamal Yadav, who passed away in 2016. The actor, currently promoting his cricket drama Mr & Mrs Mahi alongside Janhvi Kapoor, shared his devotion to keeping a fast every Friday, a practice rooted in his childhood and inspired by his late mother. "I keep a fast on Fridays," Rajkummar explained in an interview with Curly Tales ME, adding. "It is something my mother would do for Santoshi Maa. I started following her ever since I was a kid — since I was 16 — and it has been a part of my life." Rajkummar admitted that his commitment to the ritual can make his schedule more demanding, especially when juggling promotions and maintaining his energy levels on set. Yet, he finds ways to adapt, sometimes forgoing meals entirely or allowing for a single meal at night. "Sometimes, I do not eat any meals and sometimes, when I am working and I need to put in a lot of energy that day, I have one meal at night," he shared. In a heartwarming photograph, Rajkummar was seen sitting in front of a portrait of his late mother, blowing a loving kiss in her direction. "You will always be the best mother in this world, Maa," he wrote in a recent emotional tribute. "I know your blessings are always with me. Miss you every day. I love you forever." Each year on the anniversary of his mother's passing, Rajkummar shares heartfelt messages. A few years ago, he posted a throwback picture with his beloved mother and penned, “It's been 5 years, Maa since you left us, but, there has not even been a single day since, wherein, I haven't felt your presence. Nothing in this world would have been possible for me without your blessings and I know your blessings are still there with me.Nothing in this world would have been possible for me without your blessings and I know your blessings are still there with me. Mothers are the best and there is nothing in this world more valuable than a mother. I see you in every mother out there.” Rajkummar and Janhvi's Mr & Mrs Mahi is all set to release on May 31.
