The year 2023 marked a cultural milestone for India, as the nation brought home two Academy Awards after a gap of 14 years. Two names dominated every conversation–Guneet Monga and SS Rajamouli. Guneet’s The Elephant Whisperer won the Oscar for Best Documentary Short Film, while the song “Naatu Naatu” from SS Rajamouli’s film RRR won the award for Best Original Song.

Although Guneet had earlier been associated with an Oscar-winning project–the documentary Period. End of Sentence, it was only in recent years that she truly became a recognised face in the Indian film industry. Now, with over two decades of experience and about 40 films to her credit, the producer sat down for an interview with Komal Nahta on his YouTube channel Game Changers. During the conversation, Guneet participated in a rapid-fire round where he candidly expressed her admiration for Shah Rukh Khan and admitted she doesn’t know Salman Khan personally.

As part of the session, Komal Nahta asked the Oscar-winning producer to rate three Khans: Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan.

Without missing a beat, Guneet replied: “Shah Rukh Khan has been my childhood crush. It was Shah Rukh Khan who inspired me to come to Mumbai.” She added: “The Khan who I desperately want to work with is Aamir.”

When asked about Salman Khan, Guneet smiled and said: “I don’t even know him. And I don’t think he knows me either. At least I have met both Aamir and Shah Rukh. But, I have never met Salman.”

When the interviewer asked to rate the trio by popularity, Guneet responded swiftly: “Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan then Salman Khan.”

In another segment, Guneet was given a hypothetical situation–to cast the lead pair for a Rs 200 crore film. After a thoughtful pause, she clarified: “Rs 200 crore for just one film?” When Komal confirmed, she answered with a smile: “Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.”

Guneet Monga is currently producing a film starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan in the lead roles. Jointly produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment, the romantic-comedy film is set to release later this year.
