War 2, one of the year's most anticipated films, failed to live up to all the pre-release hype surrounding its clash release with Rajinikanth starrer Coolie. The second installment of the War franchise from the YRF Spy Universe is making its way to Netflix from tomorrow. The spy thriller, which featured Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, Kiara Advani, and Ashutosh Rana in the major roles, was helmed by Ayan Mukerji. The film, which continued the tale of Hrithik Roshan's Kabir from the first installment, who is forced to take on a menacing Major Vikram Chelapathi, on a mission that challenges their ideologies and concepts of patriotism in a globe-throttling adventure. Double the rampage. Ready for the War?#War2OnNetflix." War 2, based on a screenplay by Shridhar Raghavan and a storyline by Aditya Chopra, who also bankrolled the film under his home banner Yash Raj Films. According to trade tracker Sacnilk, War 2 grossed a total of Rs 365 crores from its worldwide theatrical run, with the domestic earnings at Rs 283 crores. The sixth installment of the YRF Spy Universe was criticized at the time of its release for its excessive CGI-dependent imagery and predictable writing. War 2 also marked the official Hindi film debut for Jr NTR, a superstar from Telugu cinema. The film also suffered in its theatrical run with the tough competition from Rajinikanth starrer Coolie, which ended its theatrical run collecting Rs 518 crore. War 2 will be available on Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi, among other languages, on Netflix.
