The teaser for Haq, Yami Gautam’s upcoming courtroom battle, has been unveiled. Inspired by the landmark and controversial Shah Bano case of 1985, the film reimagines the real-life legal battle with Yami playing a character named Shazia Bano, a fictionalized version of Shah Bano. From the opening frames, Yami commands attention. Her character stands defiant in a courtroom, proclaiming with passion, “I’m fighting for my haq, my rights.” The teaser hints at an emotionally charged legal battle that grapples with personal freedom, religious identity, and justice.

Joining her is Emraan Hashmi, who plays Shazia’s husband and the opposing party in the courtroom. In a tense moment, his character confronts Shazia with a scathing line: “Had you been a true and righteous Muslim, a loyal and dutiful wife, you wouldn’t have done such things.” To this, Shazia delivers a powerful rebuttal later in the teaser: “I’m not just a Muslim woman, but a Muslim woman belonging to Hindustan. I belong to this country, and that’s why the law should treat me the same way it treats the rest of the people in this country.”
