Haq teaser: Yami Gautam plays Shah Bano in this legal drama; goes head-to-head with Emraan Hashmi in the courtroom. Watch
In the teaser of Haq, Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi engage in an intense courtroom battle in a story inspired by the landmark Shah Bano case.

The teaser for Haq, Yami Gautam’s upcoming courtroom battle, has been unveiled. Inspired by the landmark and controversial Shah Bano case of 1985, the film reimagines the real-life legal battle with Yami playing a character named Shazia Bano, a fictionalized version of Shah Bano. From the opening frames, Yami commands attention. Her character stands defiant in a courtroom, proclaiming with passion, “I’m fighting for my haq, my rights.” The teaser hints at an emotionally charged legal battle that grapples with personal freedom, religious identity, and justice.
Joining her is Emraan Hashmi, who plays Shazia’s husband and the opposing party in the courtroom. In a tense moment, his character confronts Shazia with a scathing line: “Had you been a true and righteous Muslim, a loyal and dutiful wife, you wouldn’t have done such things.” To this, Shazia delivers a powerful rebuttal later in the teaser: “I’m not just a Muslim woman, but a Muslim woman belonging to Hindustan. I belong to this country, and that’s why the law should treat me the same way it treats the rest of the people in this country.”
Sharing the teaser on her official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Yami Gautam wrote: “A fight for dignity, justice and for what’s rightfully hers – #HAQ! Inspired by the landmark Supreme Court Judgement of Mohd. Ahmed Khan vs Shah Bano Begum. In cinemas on 7th November, 2025.”

Yami Gautam was last seen in Dhoom Dham, which released earlier this year. Emraan Hashmi, meanwhile, recently made a buzzy guest appearance in the series The Ba***ds of Bollywood and is gearing up for his next big release, They Call Him OG, hitting theatres this week.
