Following the release of Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2, videos of enthusiastic fans dancing to the film’s iconic tracks in theatres surged across social media platforms. In Gadar 2, director Anil Sharma recreated the original film’s iconic songs, “Main Nikla Gaddi Leke” and “Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava,” which have once again successfully struck a cord with the audience. While these tracks were originally composed by Uttam Singh, the recreated versions in Gadar 2 featured in the work of music director Mithoon.

In a conversation with Amar Ujala, composer Uttam Singh disclosed that despite being the original composer of these hit melodies, director Anil Sharma did not approach him for the music of Gadar 2. Uttam Singh told in Hindi, “They didn’t call me for Gadar 2 and I don’t have the habit of calling and asking for work.” He added, “They have used two of my songs in the film and I have also heard that they have used the background music that I composed. They should at least have the etiquette to ask me once and talk to me before using my songs in the film.”

The recreated rendition of “Main Nikla Gaddi Leke” features the voices of Udit Narayan, who also sang the original, along with Aditya Narayan and Mithoon. “Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava” is also performed by Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik, both of whom lent their voices to the original version as well.

Since its premiere on August 11, Gadar 2 has soared to become the biggest post-pandemic hit, outshining Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathan. The film garnered a staggering Rs 40 crore on its opening day and has subsequently amassed an impressive Rs 411.10 crore at the Indian box office till date. Alongside Sunny Deol, the movie features Amisha Patel reprising her role as Sakina, while Utkarsh Sharma and Manish Wadhwa play pivotal roles in the film.
