Actor Emraan Hashmi recalled attending Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday recently, but didn’t seem to have enjoyed the experience. In an interview, when he was asked if he ‘had fun’ at SRK’s grand bash, Emraan replied after taking a beat, “Define fun.” He explained that he has never been a party person, and the biggest reason why he doesn’t attend industry bashes is that he doesn’t drink.
In a chat with Zoom Entertainment, Emraan spoke about maintaining a low profile, and said that he believes strongly in the notion that stars must retain a certain allure in order for their films to work. Speaking about his experience at SRK’s Mannat, he said, “I didn’t stay beyond 12, because I get up at 6:30, 7 in the morning.” Emraan said that he has become more disciplined after the pandemic, and that he is loving his new lifestyle.
He continued, “I was never a big fan of parties. I don’t know why. They just don’t do anything for me. I don’t drink, therein lies the biggest problem. And I don’t make film industry small talk. The last thing I want to do is talk shop after pack-up.” Emraan also said that he doesn’t go to film screenings, ‘because you’re obliged to come out and praise’. “I can’t if I don’t like it. It’s not like I go in to hate a film, what if I don’t? I can’t lie about it. It shows on my face. No malice intended.”
The who’s who of the entertainment industry was spotted at SRK’s birthday bash this year, which was an extra-special event thanks to the back-to-back success of his films Pathaan and Jawan. Among the guests were Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Kiara Advani, and many others. Emraan can currently be seen in the Salman Khan-starrer Tiger 3, in which he plays the main antagonist. Directed by Maneesh Sharma and also starring Katrina Kaif, Tiger 3 is approaching the Rs 300 crore mark at the global box office in under a week of release.
