Dining with the Kapoors trailer: Alia Bhatt missing from grand Kapoor family lunch as Ranbir Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan attend; Neetu Kapoor calls Kareena ‘dramatic’
The trailer for Dining With The Kapoors has Ranbir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Neetu Singh, Karisma Kapoor, and the rest of Kapoor family coming together for a lunch prepared by Armaan Jain.
Alia Bhatt was nowhere to be seen in the promo for Dining With The Kapoors.
(Photo: Alia Bhatt/Instagram)Often hailed as Bollywood’s first family, the Kapoors trace their origin to patriarch Prithviraj Kapoor. The tradition continued with legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor, his sons Randhir, Rishi and Rajeev, and his granchildren Karisma, Kareena and Ranbir. The family tree also includes Rishi’s wife Neetu Kapoor, and Shashi Kapoor’s grandson Zahan Kapoor, all of whom are a part of the industry. Now, the entire khandaan has come together in Netflix’s new special Dining with the Kapoors, with the recently released trailer offering a glimpse of the family sharing a meal and celebrating the legacy in memory of Raj Kapoor’s 100th birth anniversary. One notable absence in the trailer is actor Alia Bhatt, who is married to Ranbir.
The trailer opens with Kareena Kapoor describing the family as “funny, loving, united” and passionate about their food. Viewers learn that the lunch is specially organised by Armaan Jain to commemorate what would have been Raj Kapoor’s 100th birthday. We see a lot of light-hearted moments, from Ranbir and Armaan joking in the kitchen to playful banter at the dining table, where Kareena is teased for eating too much, while Aadar Jain pokes fun at her penchant for Bollywood gossip.
In one amusing moment, Karisma blurts out something she shouldn’t have and quickly tells the cameraperson to stop filming. In between, we also see rare archival footage of Raj Kapoor himself. And later, the entire family comes together for a grand group photo. The trailer concludes with the all of them raising a toast in Raj Kapoor’s memory, with Ranbir quoting the iconic line: “Jeena yahan, marna yahan, iske siwa jana kahan.”
The special is created by Armaan Jain and directed by Smriti Mundhra, known for her work on Netflix hits like The Romantics and Indian Matchmaking. Dining With The Kapoors premieres on November 21.
