Diljit Dosanjh adopts villages in Punjab, Ammy Virk takes responsibility for 200 flood-affected homes; Sanjay Dutt and Sonam Bajwa step forward to support

As Punjab grapples with one of the worst floods in recent memory, many are reminded of the devastating deluge of 1988, when the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers turned into torrents of destruction, claiming over 500 lives. With waters rising once again and entire regions submerged, fears of history repeating itself are haunting the state. In a powerful gesture of solidarity, actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh has adopted ten of the most severely affected villages in Gurdaspur and Amritsar. Collaborating with NGOs and local administration, Diljit is actively supporting ongoing relief efforts.

His team stated that their focus is currently on providing essentials such as food, clean water, and medical aid. Long-term plans include rehabilitation and sustainable reconstruction. The caption of their Instagram post read: “Together we can rebuild.”

Other celebrities have also stepped forward to contribute to relief efforts. Actress Sonam Bajwa, who was last seen in Housefull 5 and is currently gearing up for the release of Baaghi 4, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram: “In these difficult times, my heart goes out to Punjab and everyone affected by the floods.  The images and stories coming from there are truly heart-breaking, but what keeps me hopeful is the spirit of unity and resilience that Punjab has always shown. I am doing my part to help by donating to organizations actively working on ground as rescue teams, and I humbly urge you to do yours too. Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference in someone’s life right now. Let’s come together and stand by Punjab in this crucial time.”

Actor Sanjay Dutt, who is also preparing for Baaghi 4, shared his concerns on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “The devastation caused by the floods in Punjab is truly heart-breaking. Sending strength and prayers to everyone impacted. I will support in every way I can. May Babaji bless and protect all in Punjab.”

Singer and actor Ammy Virk also took to Instagram to announce that he and his team have adopted 200 homes belonging to flood-affected families. He wrote: “May we all come together in whatever way we can to support those in need.”
