Dhurandhar song Ishq Jalakar: Ranveer Singh film returns with 65-year-old songThe makers of Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar have released another song of the film, titled ‘Ishq Jalakar – Karvaan’, featuring the lead star himself. The familiar music sent fans on a nostalgic ride as Aditya Dhar brought back one of the most popular qawwalis to ever come out of Indian cinema, ‘Yeh Ishq Ishq Hai’. It was a popular music that was mostly played in qawwali rounds of singing reality shows. Fans caught a glimpse of the track as the tune featured when the end credits rolled with the lyrics, ‘Na toh karwaan ki talaash hai’.
Ishq Jalakar has been sung by Shashwat Sachdev, Shahzad Ali, Subhadeep Das Chowdhury and Armaan Khan, along with Irshad Kamil and Sahir Ludhianvi’s lyrics. Fans across generations were eagerly waiting for the classic qawwali to come back after decades. The legendary OG qawwali ‘Na Toh Butkade Ki Talab Mujhe’ was performed by the famous duo Ustad Fateh Ali Khan and Ustad Mubarak Ali Khan.
Hrithik Roshan’s grandfather, music director Roshan, reworked its traditional composition to create the now-iconic film qawwali ‘Na Toh Karwaan Ki Talash Hai’ from Barsaat Ki Raat (1960). The film’s version became memorable as it had voices of Manna Dey, Asha Bhosle, Sudha Malhotra, S.D. Batish, and Mohammed Rafi. With modern adaptation, Dhurandar’s Ishq Jalakar (Karavaan) now marks never ending evolution of this famous composition.
During the Netflix show The Roshans, Shah Rukh Khan admitted that this was his favourite song by Roshan. “My favourite song is actually a qawali by him. I think I nearly know the whole qawwali if it is playing,” he shared. Singer Sonu Nigam added, “It’s like they say, ‘Never before this, never after this’. To this day, there is no qawwali like this. It takes a real genius mind where you have all the ingredients that you need, but how do you use them? That is the biggest hallmark of this qawwali.”
Dhurandhar’s smashing song was expected to release on November 24 earlier. While director Aditya Dhar and Maddock Films have issued no official statement, the music launch appeared to be delayed out of respect for the current unfortunate situation. The entire film fraternity and fans are currently mourning legendary actor Dharmendra’s death at 89, on Monday.
Meanwhile, Saregama music unveiled the track on YouTube and wrote in the description, “Presenting Ishq Jalakar, a track that brings new energy and emotion through the voices of Shashwat Sachdev, Shahzad Ali, Subhadeep Das Chowdhury & Armaan Khan. Timeless. Soulful. Powerful. Jio Studios Presents. A B62 Studios Production.” Check out the song’s video:
Many fans reacted to Ishq Jalakar in the comments section of the video. “People wanted that banger version of the song. Goosebumps agaye,” a person wrote. “I can die for this time,” another commented. “Kudos to Shashwat Sachdev for recreating this masterpiece of Roshan sir,” a third comment read.
Besides Ranveer Singh, Dhurandhar also features Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun. Written, directed and by Aditya Dhar, and produced by Aditya, Jyoti Deshpande, and Lokesh Dha, the film is set to hit the theatres on 5th December, 2025.
