For a lot to love, there is a lot to learn. Actor Deepika Padukone has opened up her equation with actor husband Ranveer Singh, saying she can be at her “most vulnerable” around him. Deepika and Ranveer, after years of dating, tied the knot in November 2018.

Reflecting on her marriage with Ranveer, Deepika said much like everyone else, for her the ingredient for a successful relationship is “patience”. In an interview with Time magazine, of which she is on the cover, Deepika said with Ranveer, she is her “most vulnerable self.”

“We either grow up being influenced by the movies or the relationships and marriages around us. The sooner you accept that the journey two people are going to be on is going to be very different from someone else’s journey, the better it is. Having said that, not just with my parents but I think with that entire generation…

“Patience is probably one of the main things that I feel like couples today–I sound like some love guru but–lack. That’s something we can all learn from, not just Ranveer and I from our parents, but all of us from the generation before. Lots of other things, but patience being the main thing.”

In the interview, the Pathaan star also opened up about the times when a female actor’s career would come to an end as soon as they would get married or become mothers, but that’s not the case anymore. “I’ve never had that experience because (Ranveer) has always put me, my dreams, and my ambitions first.”

Deepika and Ranveer have acted in several movies, including Ram Leela–which is when they started dating–, Bajirao Mastani and Padmavat, where the two didn’t share any frame.
