Chandu Champion star Kartik Aaryan weighs in on box office records, says, ‘every film wouldn’t be a money spinner’

Kartik Aaryan accepts that "every film wouldn't be a money spinner" and that he experiences "Friday jitters" as trade observes the performance of his film Chandu Champion in cinemas.

Kartik Aaryan‘s Chandu Champion opened to positive reviews on Friday, June 14, however the film’s box office performance has not matched the success of his earlier hits like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and Pyaar Ka Punchnama among others.

In a new interview Kartik has said that he holds a balanced view on the box office collection and performance of his films and what matters to him is that the films he acts in should be profitable to his producers.

Discussing commercial expectations from his films, Kartik told Bollywood Hungama, in an interview, “Eventually, we all want films to be profitable,” he admits. “I am okay with whatever the numbers are, but it should be profitable to my producers. Since my producers and exhibitors are making money out of my films, my job is done. I only have this much pressure, rest doesn’t matter. Rest everything is just for headlines.”

Kartik, considered as one of the very successful stars of today says while he is enjoying the critical appreciation of his films, he also gets anxiety thinking about box office. He said, “Who wouldn’t like more numbers? But I have come to terms with that every film wouldn’t be a money spinner. I want to continue to be the gold at the box office, but I don’t know the trick and I do have early Friday jitters.”

Kartik’s Chandu Champion was expected to repeat his 2022 Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 box office performance, however, the film, a biographical sports drama, based on the life of India’s first Paralympics gold medallist Murlikant Petkar, has a slow start at the box office and is now inching towards the Rs 30 crore mark.

Kartik has been experiencing a career high ever since Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 with Tabu and Kiara Advani, directed by Anees Bazmee, grossed Rs 266.88 at the worldwide box office, he is now shooting Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 with Tripti Dimrp and Vidya Balan.
