Chandu Champion box office collection day 4: Kartik Aaryan, Kabir Khan’s film performs better than Satyaprem Ki Katha on first Monday, earns Rs 30.12 cr
Chandu Champion box office collection day 4: While the Kartik Aaryan-starrer has witnessed a dip in its earnings on first Monday, it has earned Rs 30 crore.

After witnessing an impressive growth in its box office collections on Sunday, Kartik Aaryan’s Chandu Champion, directed by Kabir Khan, managed to pass the all-important Monday test. While the sports drama did see quite a steep fall on Monday, it earned almost as much as it did on its opening day — Friday, June 14. As per the makers, Chandu Champion earned Rs 6 crore on Monday, which also happened to be a holiday on account of Eid. On Sunday, however, the Kartik Aaryan-starrer raked in a stellar Rs 11.01 crore. Opening on Friday with an impressive 5.40 crore, the film saw growth on its second day, raking in 7.70 crore on Saturday. The film’s total four-day collections stand at Rs 30.12 crore.
Chandu Champion has proven that while the growth of the film is slow, positive word of mouth and its inspirational source material, the real-life story of India’s first Paralympics gold medalist Murlikant Petkar, is helping attract audiences. Chandu Champion’s box office performance is being constantly compared to the performances of Kartik Aaryan’s earlier films. However, Chandu Champion is performing better that his last film, Satyaprem Ki Kathaa, which, on its first Monday, had earned Rs 3.3 crore.
Best known for blockbusters such as Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Kabir Khan’s last film, 83, also under-performed at the box office. The sports drama was released in the middle of the pandemic, which cut short its theatrical run. Kartik, on the other hand, has had a mixed run in recent years. For every Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, there is a Shehzada.
The film is also facing a competition from Maddock Films’ holdover hit Munjya. The supernatural horror comedy continues to attract audiences even after two weeks of release. The film’s second Monday collection is almost equal to Chandu Champion’s. The Sharvari and Mona Singh-starrer witnessed a second weekend observed a 30 percent growth in its revenue, as compared to weekend one. According to the makers, Munjya’s total earnings stand at Rs 55.75 crore.
