The Vaccine War box office collection Day 2: Vivek Agnihotri’s film tanks with just Rs 85 lakh on second day
The Vaccine War box office collection Day 2: Director Vivek Agnihotri's new film, starring Pallavi Joshi and Nana Patekar, continues to struggle at the box office.

Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s latest venture, The Vaccine War, starring Pallavi Joshi, Nana Patekar, and Anupam Kher, among others, was released in theatres on September 28. It opened to mixed reviews and had a disappointing start at the box office compared to the director’s last two films — The Kashmir Files and The Tashkent Files. The film earned a little over Rs 80 lakh on it’s opening day, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
The Vaccine War delivered similar figures on it’s second day in theatres, taking its total two-day collection to Rs 1.70 crore. The film had an overall occupancy of 11.77% in India on Friday.

Over the long holiday weekend, following Anant Chaturthi (Ganpati Visarjan), Eid Milad Un Nabi and Gandhi Jayanti on Monday, audiences have a plethora of film options to watch in cinemas, including Kangana Ranaut and Raghava Lawrence’s Chandramukhi 2, and Varun Sharma and Richa Chaddha’s Fukrey 3, making the road ahead for The Vaccine War even more harder.
While there are three fresh films to watch, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan and Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 are still continuing to entertain the masses in cinema halls in several parts of the country. Jawan, on it’s 23rd day in theatres, eared Rs 5.25 crore (nett), whereas Gadar 2, which has been in theatres for over a month now, earned Rs 45 lakh (nett) on it’s 48th day.
The Vaccine War is called the first ‘bio-science’ film as it tries to present the story of the scientists who developed India’s Covid-19 vaccine, Covaxin, during the Covid-19. By comparison, Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files was a word-of-mouth sensation, making over Rs 340 crore worldwide in 2022.
