The Sabarmati Report box office collection day 5: Vikrant Massey’s film struggles even after becoming tax free, fails to cross Rs 10 cr mark
The Sabarmati Report box office collection day 5: Released on November 15, The Sabarmati Report, starring Vikrant Massey, is struggling to attract audiences to cinema halls even after becoming tax free in Haryana and Madhya Pradesh.

The Sabarmati Report box office collection day 5: Vikrant Massey’s latest release, The Sabarmati Report, is struggling to draw audiences to theaters. Despite being based on one of India’s most poignant political and social events, the Godhra riots, the film has failed to impress at the box office.
Directed by Dheeraj Saran and written by Avinash Singh Tomar and Arjun Bhandegavkar, The Sabarmati Report was released in cinemas on November 15. However, the film’s performance has been underwhelming, with collections failing to cross the Rs 10 crore mark even after five days.
According to early trends on Sacnilk, the Vikrant Massey starrer collected Rs 1.25 crore on its fifth day, taking its total five-day collection to Rs 8.75 crore. The film’s daily collections have been inconsistent, with Rs 1.25 crore on day one (Friday), Rs 2.1 crore on day two (Saturday), Rs 3 crore on day three (Sunday), and Rs 1.15 (Monday) crore on day four.
The Sabarmati Report becomes tax-free
Despite praise from prominent politicians, including PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, among others, the film has failed to resonate with audiences. Massey recently met the UP CM and discussed the film. Yogi Adityanath and Massey, both, shared a picture from the meeting on social media. Massey, in his post wrote,”Today got an opportunity to meet Hon’ble Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Their appreciation has inspired the entire team of #TheSabarmatiReport. Heartfelt thanks for this respect and affection.”

In a recent development, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini declared The Sabarmati Report tax-free in the state. This move aims to promote the film’s message and encourage viewers to watch it. The decision is expected to provide a boost to the film’s box office collections, especially in Haryana.
Before Haryana, The Sabarmati Report, based on the 2002 Godhra train carnage incident, was declared tax-free in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, another BJP-governed state that previously waived taxes on the film.
Ajay Devgn’s Singham Again vs Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3
The box office landscape remains competitive, with The Sabarmati Report struggling to gain traction despite its recent release. Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 continues its reign on day 19, earning Rs 1.25 crore (nett). Since its Diwali clash with Ajay Devgn’s Singham Again, both films have shown remarkable resilience. As of day 19, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has amassed an estimated Rs 235.25 crore (nett), narrowly surpassing Singham Again’s total collection of Rs 233.35 crore (nett). On Tuesday, Singham Again added Rs 1.35 crore (nett) to its tally, keeping the box office battle tightly contested.
The Sabarmati Report’s sluggish box office performance, failing to breach the Rs 10 crore threshold, has sparked concerns about its long-term viability. Producers Ekta R Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor, Amul V Mohan, and Anshul Mohan are pinning their hopes on a revival during the second weekend. However, with a narrow window of opportunity until December 5, the film faces an uphill battle. The impending release of Allu Arjun’s highly anticipated Pushpa 2 on December 5 will intensify competition, further testing The Sabarmati Report’s ability to sustain itself at the box office.
