Bosco Martis says Hrithik Roshan supported him, Siddharth Anand was upset when he demanded credit for Fighter: ‘He felt the coice shouldn’t be…’
Choreographer Bosco Martis opened up about being upset with the makers of Fighter for not giving him credit for "Sher Khul Gaye" and "Ishq Jaisa Kuch". He also talks about choregraphing Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan.

Ahead of the release of Siddharth Anand’s Fighter in theaters, Bosco Martis, who, along with partner Caesar Gonsalves, choreographed “Sher Khul Gaye” and “Ishq Jaisa Kuch”, opened up about not receiving credit for the songs in a social media post. In December, after their names were omitted from the film’s poster, he called out the makers for not crediting him for the song.
Bosco Martis on not getting credit for Fighter
While speaking to Siddharth Kannan, he talked about Siddharth Anand being upset about his post. “It was his film, so I can understand why he must have felt sad that I spoke up, despite them mentioning my name on Instagram. But that is not enough,” said Bosco, who, along with Caesar, has choreographed songs in over 75 films. He continued, “Unko aisa lagta hoga ki Bosco ko abhi awaaz nahin uthani chahiye thi, but I strongly believed ki abhi awaaz nahin uthaunga toh there will be no voice to this (Siddharth may have felt that it wasn’t necessary to speak up then, but I believe it was time I raised my voice). This wasn’t against the makers but the machinery that designed the film’s promotion. They must now remember that it is crucial to add choreographers’ names while promoting the film’s song; otherwise, it would turn into a mass roar.”
Raising a voice for not being given credit
When asked if it would impact their dynamics as colleagues and professionals, Bosco revealed that he dropped Siddharth a text informing him that he was going to vent out on social media. “I messaged him, and he replied that it was the studio’s mandate to have only a few names on the poster. It is up to him to decide whether what I did was wrong or right. But as far as I am concerned, I had to voice my opinion,” he asserted.
“My oath to the future of choreographers. It’s been 22 years we have been doing choreography and still find it a struggle to put our names on any promotional material of movies, when the song and dance are celebrated by the nation and also worldwide. Off late we felt the heat when we could not see our names in promotional material of the song where the music director is mentioned and not the choreographer. Hope the choreographers wake up to this and definitely fight for their rights. Long live dancing and entertainment (sic),” read excerpts from his long post on Instagram. He tagged his contemporaries Prabhudheva, Farah Khan Kunder, Vaibhavi Merchant, Ganesh Acharya, Ganesh Hegde, Remo D’souza, Terence Lewis, Ashley Lobo, among others.
Getting support from Hrithik Roshan
The “Senorita” choreographer revealed that actor Hrithik Roshan, who featured in “Sher Khul Gaye” and “Ishq Jaisa Kuch” (alongside Deepika Padukone), came out in support. According to a report by Jagran, the actor spoke with Siddharth after reading Bosco’s post. Bosco, who has choreographed songs in Bang Bang and War, added, “Hrithik and I have worked on many songs together, so he understands and values the amount of effort that I put in as a choreographer. He sees the hard work and dedication. So he supported me because he knows that the success of a dance depends on the choreography and the choreographers and believes that they must get their due credit.”
SRK is unstoppable despite his injuries
Bosco, the man behind Deepika and Shah Rukh Khan’s popular steps in Pathaan’s “Jhoome Jo Pathaan”, recalling shooting with SRK, said it is a delight to work with an actor who doesn’t stop despite his pain. He says, “Bhai, jo step dega, main kar lunga, but yeh dekh le ki yeh mere upar theek lagega ki nahin (Whatever step you give me, I will perform, but ensure that it suits me),” said Bosco, stressing that there are no starry tantrums. He revealed that despite a busted knee and back pain, SRK never complained or asked him to change the choreography. “During the shoot of Jhoome Jo Pathaan, despite the streets being cobbled and slippery, he never complained. He believes in the choreographer who will take care of everything. He simply surrenders and gives his best. He wasn’t very comfortable with the steps, but he was committed. He is such a big star but never for once did he ask me to change the step or choreography,” said Bosco.
After 47 takes, Saif surrendered
Over the decades, the choreographer has worked with several actors who aren’t necessarily great dancers, and they gracefully admit their limitations. “One such actor is Saif (Ali Khan),” said Bosco, recalling that time when he was choreographing him for the song “Twist” from Love Aaj Kal. “Even after 47 takes, he didn’t get the step right, and let me tell you that he had rehearsed it. I realised that dance is not his first DNA, unlike us, choreographers. So he gracefully came to me and surrendered. Another actor who surrenders when he doesn’t get the steps right is Sanjay Dutt,” he revealed.
