AP Dhillon justifies breaking guitar in Instagram post, receives more backlash
Indo-Canadian singer AP Dhillon recently performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, where he broke his guitar after the performance.

Indo-Canadian singer AP Dhillon is receiving brickbats from Indian fans for breaking his guitar after his recent performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. At the event, which is regarded as one of the biggest music festivals, Dhillon paid tribute to the deceased Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala by singing the song “Brown Munde”. After the performance, he went on to break his guitar, which resulted in a lot of backlash from his fans.
Even as he was receiving criticism for his action, Dhillon took to social media to post a picture of him breaking the guitar and justified it. In an attempt to express intention, he also shared a video of Western singer Kurt Cobain breaking his guitars. However, the post backfired and the singer received more backlash than before for his action.

Many of his fans questioned his respect for the instrument and asked him not to forget the respect it gets in the country. “You’re justifying wrong things brother. Do you even remember your culture of how we treat musical instruments? That guitar was the one you held for your show and it produced the vibration you wanted. After that destroying it was the coolest thing? This is an act of a fool. A true musician loves his instruments more than music. Show some respect, accept it, and apologise to yourself, not to us. All we can see is your graph going down. If music gave you the fame, at least learn to respect it (sic),” wrote one user.
Many came in support of AP Dhillon and justified his action of breaking the guitar to claim justice for Sidhu Moose Wala. “As a person working in media for over 2 decades let me tell you it is so easy to manipulate people and their feelings! This easily could’ve been – ‘AP represents the desi community at Coachella’, our herd mentality is taking us nowhere!! Unpopular Opinion but he did the Guitar Smash at Coachella!! This is normal for them, just because most of us are not aware of the culture doesn’t mean it’s wrong and HE CHOSE to upload the video! He could’ve easily not uploaded that moment!! Let’s take a moment to appreciate the 2 brown people who’ve represented us desis!! More power (sic),” wrote one user defending him.
