Nagpur police on Sunday arrested a man for making a hoax bomb threat call at Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s residence, in Nagpur.
According to officials, the Nagpur police control room received a call on their emergency number 112 in the morning from a man claiming a bomb had been placed at Gadkari’s home and would soon explode.

This triggered a swift response from the police. The bomb squad was deployed and security was beefed up at his residence with police also informing the minister’s security to be on alert.
DCP Nagpur, Rushikesh Singareddy informed that officers conducted a thorough search of the premises. However, no explosives were found. It was then realised that this was a hoax call.
The city police then traced the call to a mobile number registered to an Umesh Raut, who works as a server at a liquor shop; he was then taken into custody.

DCP Nagpur, Rushikesh Singareddy informed that so far Nagpur police has not found any criminal history associated with the accused in custody. Further investigation is underway.
