Alia Bhatt’s Alpha postponed to 2026; Kartik Aaryan-Ananya Panday’s Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri to release on Christmas

Agastya Nanda’s Ikkis was having a box office clash with Alia Bhatt Alpha as it's earlier release date was on December 25.

Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh were all set to enter the YRF Spy Universe this December but the film has now been postponed to 2026. The film was teased in Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR’s War 2. As Yash Raj Film’s first female-led spy film, the Alia-Sharvari film was getting a lot of buzz. However, makers say that the film will only come out on April 17, 2026 as VFX work is yet to be completed.

Instead of Alpha, Kartik Aaryan-Ananya Panday’s Dharma film Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri will release this Christmas. Directed by Sameer Vidwans, the film will release one week in advance now.

Alpha is touted to be one of the biggest female-led action thrillers in India. It is the seventh film in the YRF Spy Universe.

YRF shared in a statement, “Alpha is an extremely special film for us and we want to present the film in its most cinematic self. We have realised that the VFX will take a little longer than what we had initially assumed. We want to leave no stone unturned to make Alpha into a theatrical experience for everyone to cherish. Thus, we will now release the film on April 17, 2026.”

“Alpha team wants to put out the best film for audiences to enjoy. It is a fair move by YRF. This was brewing as the VFX team was under a lot of pressure with regards to timelines which was seeming unrealistic. So, the push of release date is due to this only and not because of the current cluttered release window from Avatar to the end of January 2026. There is significant work pending and that’s why Alpha is releasing in April and not February,” read the statement further.

Directed by Shiv Rawail, the film Alpha also stars Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol in pivotal roles. It is said that the actors Alia and Sharvari will go toe to toe against Bobby in this brutal showdown that is a part of YRF Spy Universe. As per reports, it may feature a cameo by Shah Rukh Khan and will pave the way for Pathaan 2.

On the other hand, after the trailer of Agastya Nanda’s theatrical debut, Ikkis, was released a few days ago and the makers revealed that the film is all set to hit theatres on December 25, it’s clash with Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s Alpha at the box office was also creating a lot of buzz.
