Akshay Kumar supported Honey Singh during his struggles. Rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh said that several Bollywood personalities showed support to him during his mental health struggles. But Akshay Kumar in particular insisted that they speak on the phone. In an interview, Honey Singh said that somebody from Shah Rukh Khan’s office got in touch with him, Deepika Padukone recommended a mental health expert, and several others stood by him during that time. He said that he wasn’t talking on the phone when he was at his lowest, but his mother told him that Akshay was insistent.
In an interview with Sidharth Kannan, Honey was asked who all from the film industry got in touch with him when they got to know of his troubles. He said, “Sab log saath they. Main phone pe baat nahi kar paata tha, lekin Akshay paaji se do-teen baari phone pe bhi baat kari maine. Mummy ne bola paaji se baat kar, woh tere se baat hi karke maanenge, aise maan nahi rahe. Paaji ne samjhaya mujhe kaafi kuch, ke sab theek ho jayega. Suggest bhi kiya tha ke South India mein ek ayurveda ka program hota hai, woh join kar, usse help milegi kaafi. Main gaya nahi tha wahan. Sabne support kiya, sabne pyaar kiya (Everybody was with me. I wouldn’t talk on the phone, but I spoke to Akshay a few times. My mother told me he wouldn’t take no for an answer. He told me everything will be okay, and suggested an ayurveda program in South India. He said it could help. I didn’t go. But everybody was supportive and loving).”
Akshay and Honey have collaborated on the hit number ‘Party All Night’, from the film Boss. They recently collaborated once again on the song ‘Kudi Chamkeeli‘, for the film Selfiee. When Selfiee bombed at the box office, Honey had offered words of encouragement at an event, and said that times will change for Akshay.
Honey Singh opened up about his struggles with drugs and mental health in interviews over the last few years. After remaining mostly out of action for several years, he is now attempting to stage a comeback with a new album. Later this year, he will also be featured in a tell-all documentary about his life, produced by Oscar-winner Guneet Monga for Netflix.
