Akshay Kumar sings Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava as he thanks audience for showering love on ‘Oh My Gadar’, celebrates ‘greatest week in Indian film history’
Akshay Kumar took to social media to express gratitude towards movie buffs who turned up in huge numbers not only for OMG 2 but also for the actioner Gadar 2.
Both Gadar 2 and OMG 2 have been getting a good footfall in cinema halls. Both the Independence Day releases, Gadar 2 and OMG 2 have been attracting crowds to cinema halls. While Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 has minted Rs 263.48 crore in less than a week, Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 is also going strong and has crossed the Rs 100 crore gross mark globally. Kumar took to social media to express gratitude towards film buffs who turned up in huge numbers not only for his movie but also for the actioner Gadar 2.
The actor called the phenomenon which is happening at the theatres right now, ‘Oh My Gadar’. He wrote on X (formerly called Twitter), “A big thank you to our audiences for all the love for #OhMyGadar and giving us the greatest week in Indian Film History! प्यार और आभार🙏🏻 #Gadar2 in cinemas #OMG2 in cinemas.”

Along with it, Akshay Kumar shared a video showing the positive response to his film OMG 2 and the words, ‘Celebrating the greatest week in the Indian film industry’ appear on the screen. In the background, the actor is heard crooning the Gadar 2 song “Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava”. In one of the scenes in OMG 2, Akshay’s character sings the romantic song in front of Pankaj Tripathi.
Earlier, the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) and Producers Guild of India (PGI) noted that the weekend which saw the release of OMG 2, Gadar 2 and Jailer, set a “new all-time theatrical gross box office record” in the film industry. This came as a relief for exhibitiors who had been facing a difficult time since 2020 when cinema halls were shut due to the coronavirus pandemic. Even after the reopening of theatres, they found it tough to bring back people.
The weekend of August 11-13 witnessed a record-breaking collection of Rs 360 crore at the box office as four films Gadar 2, OMG 2, Tamil film Jailer and Telugu film Bhola Shankar enticed the audience. Shibasish Sarkar, President, the Producers Guild of India, told Hindustan Times, “It’s a good sign that people are willing to come back to cinema in large numbers if the content is for the theatre screen. And all these four films were meant for theatrical experience and that’s why audience came back.”
