Actor Ajay Devgn has explored and aced several genres, and has now zeroed in on horror as he stars in Vikas Bahl’s supernatural thriller Shaitaan. He will be seen with R Madhavan and Jyotika in the film . Recently, at the film’s trailer launch, Ajay shared that he has had experiences with paranormal activity in real life.
Ajay shared, “I wanted to do horror as a genre for a long time, I had done Bhoot before. I love this genre because black magic exists in every culture. This film is not just about me, anybody whose family faces this will have a sense of responsibility. I am one of them.”
He also shared, “I have experienced a lot of supernatural cases. Earlier, we used to shoot outdoors where we faced paranormal activity. In the first 10-12 years of our career, we have seen a lot of paranormal activity.”
Giving his take on whether the concept of black magic will find takers today, Ajay said, “I have had many experiences, I don’t know how much of them are true, and how many are in the head. But I have rarely met anyone who does not believe in this. When we leave the house or fall sick, the first thing that comes to mind is that it is an evil eye. This belief is unanimous.”
He also said that as parents, all three of the lead cast could connect with the central theme of Shaitaan — parents trying to save their child. In the Shaitaan trailer, Madhavan, portraying the antagonist, seeks refuge at Ajay and Jyotika’s house. Soon, claiming to have hypnotised their daughter, he uses her as a weapon against them.
Madhavan said, “If you ever want to experience the strength of a parent, just observe them when their child is in trouble. No matter what their physical attributes, when something comes on their child, you will get to see real heroes.”
He continued, “I have seen this in my personal life too. The helplessness you have as a parent is very painful to bear for anyone. When you see your offspring in somebody else’s control, you become more powerful. Imagine we cry on bidaai so much, what would happen in a situation like this.”

Jyotika also shared, “I think when it comes to a daughter, there is no bigger warrior than a mother. My daughter looks like my on-screen daughter, she is the same age, so seeing her had me in tears. It was a true vision of a mother. And when it’s a film it is not that scary, but in real life the thought that it can happen with you too is scary.”
Ajay is also producing Shaitaan along with Panorama Studios and Jio Studios. Other than Shaitaan, Ajay also has Singham 3 in the making.
