The Pahalgam terror attack has shaken the entire nation, including the film industry. Several movie-related events have been cancelled, and the release of Pakistani actor Fawad Khan’s upcoming film Abir Gulaal has been barred in India in response to the incident. Additionally, actor Aamir Khan skipped the special screening of his 1994 cult comedy Andaz Apna Apna, which is set to re-release in theatres on April 25, 31 years after its original premiere.
In a conversation with Subhash K Jha, Aamir said, “I was reading reports about what happened at Pahalgam in Kashmir. I have been badly affected by the senseless killing of innocents. I was in no state to go (to the preview). I will see it sometime later this week.”
Aamir Khan also reflected on the initial rejection that Andaz Apna Apna faced upon its original release. The actor said, “Raj Santoshi and I were the only two people who believed in the film. We loved it. So, when it didn’t work, we were both sad. And then it goes on to become my biggest success on home entertainment!!! Both Raj and I were finally redeemed.”
Andaz Apna Apna was initially declared a box office failure. However, it went on to become a cult classic comedy. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film stars Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Raveena Tandon, Paresh Rawal, Shakti Kapoor, Shehzad Khan and Viju Khote, among others.
