When Aamir Khan helped RJ Anmol in impressing Amrita Rao’s father: ‘Jitni payment hui thi…’

RJ Anmol and Amrita Rao have been married for over 9 years and during a recent appearance on Kapil Sharma’s show, Anmol recalled an incident when he was still trying to impress Amrita’s parents and Aamir Khan helped him. Anmol shared that he had once organised a screening of the film Teesri Manzil since his radio show was all about retro films and songs. Aamir Khan too wanted to be a part of it as this was one of his favourite films and he had never watched it on the big screen. The film was made by Nasir Hussain, Aamir’s uncle, and he appeared in it as a child actor.

“So he called me over to his house and said that we’ll go together. We were sitting in the car and Aamir was sitting up front and I was sitting in the back. He was praising me that he really likes my show, he really likes the interviews that I do. I knew that Amrita’s father was going to be present at the screening. And I started wondering that if Aamir praised me like this at the screening in front of everyone, it’ll be really nice,” he shared.

Anmol said that “gathered a lot of courage” and asked if he was just praising him for the sake of it or if he really meant it. And when Aamir said that he actually meant it, Anmol made a rather strange request. He recalled saying, “Sir, I have a girlfriend and he turned around and looked at me. I asked him ‘Whatever you are saying about me here, can you please say all of this at the screening? Because my father-in-law to-be will be there’. He was so happy and readily agreed.” When Aamir asked Anmol about his girlfriend, he refused to divulge any details as until then, Anmol and Amrita had kept their relationship under wraps.

At the screening, Anmol was nervous to hand over the mic to Aamir. He gave him the mic and “Unhone annkhon mein ishara kia ki ab tu dekh (he just hinted with his eyes that you don’t worry at all.)” Anmol recalled that Aamir overdelivered and laughed saying, “Jitni payment hui thi usse zyada delivery hui (He did more than he was paid for.)”
