12th Fail box office collection day 5: Vikrant Massey film remains steady, mints Rs 9.89 crore
12th Fail box office collection day 5: Vikrant Massey-starrer 12th Fail garnered Rs 1.65 crore on Tuesday, bringing its total domestic collection to Rs 9.89 crore.

Following a promising start at the box office, Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail has slowed down a bit. The film, however, continues to maintain its lead over Kangana Ranaut’s Tejas, which also premiered on October 27. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, 12th Fail garnered Rs 1.65 crore on Tuesday, bringing its total domestic collection to Rs 9.89 crore, with a 10.24 per cent Hindi occupancy.
Over the weekend, 12th Fail showed signs of growth, with earnings of Rs 2.51 crore and Rs 3.12 crore on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. However, it dipped on Monday with earnings of Rs 1.5 crore. On Tuesday, the film garnered Rs 1.65 crore.
In contrast, Tejas earned a meager Rs 35 lakh on its fifth day and faced difficulty in capturing the audience’s attention, despite extensive promotional efforts. The high expectations surrounding the Kangana Ranaut-starrer led many to anticipate a significant box office performance, but it was 12th Fail that took the lead, surpassing the Kangana film.
The Indian Express film critic Shubhra Gupta gave 12th Fail a 3-star rating and wrote in her review, “Despite the background music, and the occasional mood spikes, ‘12th Fail’ stays, for the most part, a film that cleaves close to ground reality, with characters that makes you feel that they’ve wandered off the street, and come to hang out with us, dishing out life-lessons laced with dollops of inspiration. It’s not just the main cast, but the numbers of the young who gather in the hot-spots rife with coaching centres, such as North Delhi’s Mukerjee Nagar: all these multitudes, crowding into tiny rooms, far away from their homes, cramming day and night to get through the exams in the hope of becoming something more than who they are, is such an India story.”
Directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and produced by Vinod Chopra Films and Zee Studio, 12th Fail stars Vikrant Massey, Harish Khanna, Priyanshu Chatterjee, Sanjay Bishnoi, and Sukumar Tudu in pivotal roles.
