120 Bahadur vs Mastiii 4 box office collection day 4: As Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh, and Aftab Shivdasani's sex comedy gains an edge over Farhan Akhtar's military drama, the latter still enjoys a higher haul than the former.
120 Bahadur vs Mastiii 4 box office collection day 4: The sex comedy gains an edge over the military drama.Tables have turned for the two Hindi releases from this past Friday. Milap Zaveri’s sex comedy Mastiii 4, starring Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh, and Aftab Shivdasani, was trailing Razneesh Ghai’s period military drama 120 Bahadur, starring Farhan Akhtar at the domestic box office. However, the former has now gained an edge over the latter on their first Monday.
On Monday (day 4) at the domestic box office, 120 Bahadur earned Rs 1.40 crore, which was Rs 10 lakh less than that of Mastiii 4, which garnered Rs 1.50 crore on the same day. However, for both the films, the earnings on Monday were quite a decline from those on Sunday (day 3), at Rs 4 crore and Rs 3 crore respectively.
On Saturday (day 2), while 120 Bahadur earned Rs 3.85 crore, Mastiii 4 minted Rs 2.75 crore, equal to its opening day earnings on Friday. On that day, 120 Bahadur opened at Rs 2.25 crore. Thus, Farhan’s movie enjoyed an edge over Mastiii 4 throughout the opening weekend, but Monday tells a different story, as per Sacnilk.
Even after this surprising turn of events, 120 Bahadur is still ahead of Mastiii 4 in terms of its domestic box office collection so far. The former has collected Rs 11.50 crore after four days, whereas the latter has managed to finally hit double digits and earn Rs 10 crore, aided by its Monday earnings.
Both films have now surpassed the lifetime domestic earnings of India’s official Oscars entry, Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound, which earned Rs 4.58 crore earlier this year. They’ve also surpassed Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar’s action thriller Ground Zero, starring Emraan Hashmi, which was also produced by Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani’s banner Excel Entertainment earlier this year, and earned Rs 7.77 crore at the domestic box office.
Both 120 Bahadur and Mastiii 4 have their next targets in sight — Mudassar Aziz’s romantic comedy Mere Husband Ki Biwi, starring Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, and Rakul Preet Singh, which earned Rs 12.25 crore, followed by Girish Kohli’s thriller Crazxy, starring Sohum Shah, which garnered Rs 14.03 crore at the domestic box office.
They have three more days to compete with only each other, before new contenders enter the market this Friday. These include Aanand L Rai’s intense romance Tere Ishk Mein, starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, and Vibhu Puri’s lighthearted romance Gustaakh Ishq, starring Vijay Varma and Fatima Sana Shaikh, which marks the debut of ace fashion designer Manish Malhotra as a producer.

120 Bahadur revolves around the Battle of Rezang La in 1962. It marks Farhan’s return to acting three years after Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s sports drama Toofan, and also features Raashi Khanna in a special appearance. Mastiii 4 marks the fourth instalment in the popular sex comedy franchise, the previous three parts of which were helmed by Indra Kumar. Aftab, Riteish, and Vivek reprise their roles from the previous three successful instalments.
