UPSC 2024 Notification Updates: CSE application form at upsc.gov.in, prelims on May 26

A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on the 1st of August, 2024 i.e., the candidate must have been born not earlier than August 2, 1992 and not later than August 1, 2003, UPSC said while releasing the CSE notification.

Allotment of Centres will be on the "first-apply-first allot" basis, and once the capacity of a particular centre is attained, the same will
be frozen. Therefore, candidates must register for the UPSC CSE 2024 exam at the earliest to get the exam centres of their choice.

1. The photograph, uploaded by candidate should not be more than 10 days old from the start of the online application process (i.e. the application commencement date)
2. Ensure that the name of candidate and the date on which the photograph was taken are clearly mentioned on the photograph
3. The candidate’s face should occupy 3/4th of the space in the photograph
4. The candidates must ensure that their appearance must match with their photograph at each stage of the examination process -- at the time of preliminary, main (written) and interview/ personality test. For instance, if a candidate uploads a bearded photograph, he must appear with the same look in the preliminary, main (written) and interview/ personality test. Same would be the case with spectacles, moustaches, etc. 

This year, the commission has notified a total of 1,056 vacancies for CSE and 150 for IFoS. The commission advertised 1,105 posts last year in CSE which was higher than this year.

The number of vacancies to be filled on the results of the UPSC IFoS examination is expected to be approximately 150, the Commission announced.

Through UPSC CSE exams, approximately 1,056 vacancies will be filled.

The last date to register for UPSC CSE is March 5. Candidates can register for UPSC CSE 2024 at upsc.gov.in and upsconline.nic.in.

The UPSC has released the CSE application at upsc.gov.in.

The UPSC has not yet notified the CSE 2024 application form time. However, it is expected to be released anytime soon.

The UPSC CSE 2024 syllabus will not change. Any change in the UPSC IAS syllabus will be informed beforehand to allow the aspirants sufficient time to prepare for the exam.

Every eligible candidate can take as many as six attempts to clear the UPSC exam. However, candidates belonging to the OBC and PwBD categories will get nine attempts. There also exists relaxation in the number of attempts for the candidates belonging to SC and ST categories.

The UPSC CSE application form will be released at upsc.gov.in.

Last year, there were 1,105 vacancies announced for UPSC CSE exams. It was the highest in seven years. The UPSC CSE vacancies will be released soon at upsc.gov.in.

The UPSC CSE age limit will be known after the Commission releases the UPSC notification. Going by past year trends, a candidate should have attained the age of 21 years to become eligible for UPSC CSE and should not have attained the age of 32 years as on August 1 on the year of applying.

UPSC CSE preliminary exam will consist of objective type questions to select candidates for the UPSC IAS Main examination. UPSC CSE Main will be descriptive. The CSE Mains exam will be followed by an interview round for the selection of candidates for the various services and posts.

The UPSC CSE notification will be released today, February 14.

UPSC conducts the civil services exam to recruit group A and B level officers at key government posts in Indian Administrative Services (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Revenue Services (IRS) among others. The exam is conducted in three stages – preliminary, main and personality test.

The commission has not yet announced the number of vacancies in CSE. Last year, it announced over 1,000 vacancies.

Critical thinking is a cognitive skill and goes beyond simply acquiring and memorising information; instead, it focuses on actively engaging with that information in a thoughtful and reflective manner. It plays a pivotal role in the various stages of the UPSC examination and its significance is very much high in shaping the future administrative leaders of the country. The UPSC examination consists of three stages — Prelims, Main, and Interview. Each stage demands a distinct set of critical thinking skills.

The Central Government is the Cadre Controlling Authority for the three All India Services. In terms of the provisions of the respective
IAS/IPS/IFS Promotion Regulations, the Central Government means Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Department of Personnel & Training for IAS, Ministry of Home Affairs for IPS and Ministry of Environment,
Forests & Climate Change for IFS. The vacancies to be filled under the promotion quota for each year are determined by the Central Government in consultation with the respective State Government and the final appointments are also made by the central government. 

The UPSC CSE 2024 mains exams will be held from September 20 for five days. 

The UPSC has not yet announced the CSE notification release time. The upsc.gov.in will make the notification and application link available. 

Anand Mahindra, the chairman of the Mahindra Group, sparked the attention of the internet last week by sharing a post on the difficulty level of entrance exams in the country including the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and Union Public Service Commission Civil Service Exam (UPSC CSE). While delving into the difficulty level, the chairman came across an IIT graduate who had also taken the UPSC exams and told him that the latter was more difficult. 

The UPSC CSE prelims will be held on May 26, 2024.

The UPSC CSE exam is held in three stages -- prelims, mains and interview. After clearing the objective type prelims, shortlisted candidates becomes eligible to appear for the descriptive mains and then those shortlisted in this stage are called for a personal interview.
