Bhavya has been preparing for IIT since Class 8 and has been living away from home in Hyderabad to achieve her dream.
Bhavya is pursuing Computer Science Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. She shares how she prepared for the exam with indianexpress.com.
I had a keen interest in all three subjects— Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and wanted to pursue something for higher education that would let me further study these subjects. Therefore, I chose to appear for JEE. As I was drawn towards Mathematics and Computer Science, I thought of pursuing Computer Science Engineering. Though I didn’t have a foundation in Computer Science before joining college, I really wanted to know about it.
I would like to pursue a Master’s after graduation and would like to go abroad for the same.
I used to study for 12 to 13 hours a day for JEE and give equal attention to each subject. I would focus on the theoretical part and practised enough mock tests and other material. I thoroughly studied NCERT and tried to be perfect with it. Our teachers also used to give us some important theories and problems.
In order to release my stress I used to sketch, cook or watch comedy videos in my free time.
Three things are very important for JEE — preparation, strategy and temperament. A lot of students focus only on preparation and ignore the other two aspects. Having a strategy and being calm is very important. Also, be patient, don’t get afraid of small failures, learn from them.
