NIT Tiruchirappalli has no separate course or department on data science in undergraduate; however, in the postgraduate, they do have a branch named data analysis. Admission to undergraduate programmes at NIT Trichy, including BTech. and BArch., are conducted through a centralized process based on performance in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main), which is administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Candidates must qualify in JEE Main and meet the eligibility criteria based on their Class 12 results. Seat allocation is managed by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA), which oversees admissions to NITs, IITs, IIITs, and other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). After the JoSAA rounds, any remaining vacant seats are filled through special rounds conducted by the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB). The VIT has various BTech programmes, and two of them are about BTech in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering. Other than the above, VIT has a separate BTech course in Computer Science and Engineering on Data Science. This course teaches students about data visualisation, cybersecurity, computer graphics, natural language processing, soft computing, and open source programming, among others. Admission to courses at VIT Vellore is based on candidates’ performance in the most recent qualifying examination or relevant entrance test. The institute conducts VITEEE for BTech programs, VITMEE for MTech admissions, and VITREE for PhD enrollment.
Jadavpur University’s MTech in CSE provides various courses, and one of them is MTech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. This is a three-year evening programme offered by the University. Annual tuition fees are Rs 4,75,000. To be eligible, candidates must be Indian nationals or hold PIO/OCI status, and should have passed or be appearing for the 10+2 exam with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with one additional subject such as Chemistry, Computer Science, or Biology. Admission is based on performance in the SRMJEEE (UG) entrance exam.
